Mountain View Hospice Society's Inaugural Golf Tournament Triumphs
Last month, the Mountain View Hospice Society ventured into new fundraising territory with its very first golf tournament, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. According to Mary Marshall, the society's executive director, the event far exceeded expectations, raising over $20,000 in net income. "This is a tremendous success for our inaugural tournament," Marshall exclaimed in an email.
Champions on the Green
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the thrilling competition on the greens. Emerging victorious was the talented foursome of Eric Lafrance, Connor Lafrance, Liam LaFrance, and Mike Howden. Their skill and teamwork secured them the coveted top spot. Following closely behind in second place was the formidable Priebe team, comprised of Jordan Priebe, Brock Priebe, Kevin Haller, and Corban Knight. Rounding out the top three was the Hildebrand foursome, featuring Pal Hildebrand, Ed Hildebrand, Marion Hildebrand, and Keith Klinck, who displayed exceptional prowess throughout the tournament.
Exciting Contests and Close Competitions
Throughout the day, participants engaged in thrilling contests, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. Mike Howden demonstrated his precision by clinching the Closest to the Pin award on hole 4, while Matthew Pierce and Penny Bayko mirrored his success on hole 13. Meanwhile, the putting contest saw Paul Hildebrand, Cory Noel, Gail Polonich, and Patrick Reed showcase their finesse by sinking their shots with skillful accuracy.
Community Spirit and Generosity
Beyond the competitive spirit, the tournament was a testament to community support and generosity. Over 40 individuals contributed to the success of the silent auction, which added a vibrant buzz to the event. Marshall emphasized the invaluable assistance received from the dedicated staff at the Olds Golf Club and the generous sponsors whose contributions made the event possible.
Looking Ahead
Reflecting on the day's achievements, Marshall expressed gratitude for the outstanding efforts of volunteers who went above and beyond to ensure the event's success. She also noted that the feedback from sponsors and attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, setting a promising precedent for future tournaments. "It was truly a great day," Marshall concluded, hinting at plans to incorporate lessons learned into next year's event to make it even more memorable.
