The selection process, overseen by a dedicated local grant committee and approved by town council, ensures that the funds are directed where they are most needed.
Making a Difference
Kirsten’s Place, an upcoming emergency shelter, stands to benefit greatly from the largest grant of $35,000. This funding will be pivotal in furnishing essential amenities such as mattresses, bed frames, and furniture, enabling the shelter to accommodate and protect up to 306 individuals annually.
Meanwhile, École Olds High School's Leadership group has received $20,000 to establish a "You Matter" Outdoor Wellness Space on campus. This student-led initiative aims to promote positive mental health by creating a serene area equipped with an accessible picnic table, fostering a supportive environment for students.
Enhancing Community Spaces
The Kiwanis Club of Olds has been awarded $10,000 towards the construction of a warming shack at Centennial Park.
