Olds Grizzlys Welcome Brad Tobin as New Assistant Coach
In a move set to bolster their coaching staff, the Olds Grizzlys of the junior A hockey league have announced the appointment of Brad Tobin as their new assistant coach. Hailing from Delta, B.C., Tobin brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in hockey coaching to the team.
Tobin's Background and Experience
Brad Tobin joins the Grizzlys following a successful stint as the head coach and general manager of Creston in the Kootenay International Hockey League over the past two seasons. Prior to that, he spent a commendable decade with the Surrey Eagles of the B.C. Hockey League, where he served as an assistant coach. His extensive experience in coaching and managing teams prepares him well for his new role with the Grizzlys.
Rekindling Connections
Tobin's arrival in Olds marks a reunion with head coach Peter Schaefer, with whom he previously worked at the Surrey Eagles. Schaefer, now leading the Grizzlys as head coach, has expressed enthusiasm about working alongside Tobin once again. According to a recent Grizzlys news release, Tobin is eager to renew their coaching partnership and is quoted saying, "I'm a player’s coach first and foremost."
Looking Ahead to the Season
With Tobin set to join the team on August 1st, the Grizzlys are gearing up for an eventful training camp opening on August 23rd. Tobin has already begun collaborating with Schaefer on recruitment efforts and preparations for the upcoming season. His focus remains clear: building a competitive team that will deliver exciting hockey for fans and contribute positively to the community.
