Local A&W Restaurants Boost Fundraising Efforts for MS

Two A&W restaurants in Olds and Bowden have come together to make a significant contribution in the fight against multiple sclerosis (MS). This year, they raised $5,000 as part of A&W’s Burgers to Beat MS campaign, held on August 22. That total is a bit higher than what was raised last year, showcasing a growing community effort to support those affected by this challenging condition.

The campaign donates $2 from every Teen Burger sold to help Canadians living with MS, a disease that attacks the central nervous system and disrupts communication between nerve cells. Unfortunately, there is still no cure for MS, making campaigns like this one vital for support and research.

Dean Bracken, the owner and operator of the A&W locations in Olds and Bowden, shared that his restaurants sold 715 Teen Burgers. On top of that, they collected over $3,200 through customer donations and by encouraging patrons to round up their bills throughout August.

“I’m very pleased with the Olds and surrounding community for once again being extremely generous,” Bracken expressed in an email. The spirit of giving demonstrated by these communities is a testament to their commitment to making a difference in the lives of those living with MS.
