Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Therapist, you'll be a crucial part of a multidisciplinary team. Your primary responsibilities will include emergent intervention, screening, risk and mental health assessment, as well as provisional diagnostic and treatment planning services for adults. Although the focus is on adult care, you'll occasionally need to address the needs of clients of all ages, including children, adolescents, and seniors.

Your role will encompass a variety of tasks:

  • Assessment and Intervention: Conducting thorough assessments and providing necessary interventions for clients with mental health issues. This includes mental status and risk assessments, as well as therapy.
  • Case Management: Offering both short-term and long-term case management, focusing on functional living skills and community stabilization.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with other health professionals and community agencies to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
  • Client Care: Prioritizing and responding to client needs, providing direct assistance in problem-solving, and facilitating access to appropriate resources.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work (with a clinical specialization), Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or Psychiatric Nursing, with a focus on mental health assessment and psychotherapy.
  • Active or eligible registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
  • At least five years of recent experience in mental health.
  • Authorization by the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) to provide psychosocial interventions (for Social Workers).

The job is based at the Olds Mental Health Centre, with a shift pattern of 7.75 hours per day over a two-week cycle, including weekends off. The role is set to commence on August 26, 2024, and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta on September 1, 2024.
