Fire Restrictions Lifted in Red Deer County
As of Thursday morning, the fire restrictions that had been in place across Red Deer County since earlier this summer have officially been lifted. Red Deer Fire Chief Drayton Bussiere made the announcement at 10 a.m. on August 29, allowing residents and businesses to once again apply for fire permits.
Permits are required for all open fires throughout the year, except for fires contained in approved residential fire pits. Those looking to obtain a fire permit can easily do so online at rdc.burnpermits.com.
The previous fire restrictions, which were put into effect on July 11, halted the issuance of new permits. With the restrictions now removed, permit holders are urged to stay vigilant. "While conditions for burning have improved, it is important to closely monitor local conditions, Red Deer County’s website, and the Albertafirebans.ca website for any changes and additional information,” Bussiere emphasized.
Stay safe, stay informed, and enjoy the comfort of a responsible fire in Red Deer County.
